Yellow Mitsubishi GTO

Our long time customer, Mr. Tony dropped by asking us if we could make a custom subwoofer for him. Reason being that his current tube subwoofer, while not that big, was taking up some needed space. He had the idea that we could custom make a subwoofer that would fit the odd empty space he has. After doing a little bit of research, we felt confident we could come up with a solution for him.

The little empty space on the left side

The little empty space on the left side. See the masking tape there, that is us making measurements. Carboard templates were used as it allows us to test the fitment before starting on the box.

On to the planning phase.

On to the planning phase. Volume calculations were made and amplifier power taken into consideration. Then we needed to narrow down to a subwoofer that would fit the application.

And so it begins.

After finding the right subwoofer model, we then proceeded with making the box.

A lot of fitting, testing, measuring.

A lot of fitting, testing, measuring. As you can see, we didn't have much space for this design so it makes it critical that we don't make mistakes.

Box done, time to wrap it up, literally.

Finally, we can see the final look of the box. Granted a bit odd, but its to fit the space and look "factory" as best as it can.

Time to wrap things up, literally.

As simple as it looks, this stage is crucial in achieving that smooth and finished look. Nothing is worse than a wrinkled wrap.

Subwoofer of choice, the 8" JBL Stage 810.

Subwoofer of choice, the 8" JBL Stage 810. Pretty handsome looking subwoofer. Would expect nothing less from JBL.

Test fitting again and again.

Need to make sure it fits well and the rear sets can be locked in space properly. Moment of truth.

Back of the box

Apologies for the blurry image of the rear. Just trying to show you the location of the connectors.

Mounting the subwoofer into the enclosure.

Finally the subwoofer can be mounted into the enclosure. 4 screws, no drama.

Subwoofer and enclosure complete. Looking pretty good if we say so ourselves :-)

Fits so good

So glad it all fits so good, looks "factory" ans sound amazing as well.

Step back a bit, here is what it looks like fitted

Here is a better look from further away.
