The owner of this Perodua Axia got in touch with us wanting to equip his car with a nice touchscreen and some speakers. This particular variant of the Perodua Axia did not come with a radio nor any speakers. The car did have the factory stereo harness and front speaker harness in the door. However, for the rear doors, we had to add a harness and run it from the back of the head unit into the rear doors.

Upon some discussions, and the owner not wanting to spend too much, we decided on the Blaupunkt Dakota BP800 Play. Initially he wanted something cheaper but we managed to convince him to spend a litlle bit more to get a unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as this will make day to day usage much more convenient.

As for the speakers, we usually recommend component speakers for the front and coaxials for the rear. Unfortunately the customer wanted to stick to his budget so we ended up going with coaxial front and rear. This proved to be a bad decision on his part as after a few days of testing the system, he really felt he wanted tweeters on the dashboard.

Since the speakers were already installed, we opted to add the affordable Audibank tweeters and hope that the overall sound would not be too bright as his front doors already has tweeters in the coaxial speakers. Thankfully, the combination of the tweeters with the coaxials up front ended up sounding pretty good so jobs done with this one
